About Curtis
With 9 years of experience as a violin tutor, I bring a rich background and deep passion for teaching the violin. My journey in music has equipped me with extensive knowledge and a refined skill set, which I am eager to share with students at all levels. My goal is to help each student develop a strong technical foundation while also fostering a love for the expressive potential of the violin.
I specialize in several key areas: technique, sight-reading, and expressive performance. My approach to technique focuses on perfecting essential skills such as bowing, finger positioning, and posture. Through structured exercises and personalized feedback, I help students build precision and control, which are crucial for advancing to more complex pieces and improving overall performance.
Sight-reading is another area of emphasis in my lessons. I work with students to enhance their ability to read and play new music fluently. This skill not only broadens their repertoire but also boosts their confidence in handling unfamiliar material. Our lessons start with a strong emphasis on technique. We focus on fundamental skills such as bowing, finger positioning, and posture, using targeted exercises to build precision and control. Sight-reading is another key area of our instruction.
