About Emily
Hi, I’m Emily! I’m a Political Science and Government student at the University of Cincinnati, and I’m here to make civics and politics way less confusing—and a lot more interesting. With hands-on experience working at the city, county, and federal levels, I don’t just know how government works—I’ve lived it. I bring real-world examples, current events, and even some behind-the-scenes insight into every session. Whether you're prepping for a big test, working on a paper, or just trying to wrap your head around how Congress functions (or doesn’t!), I’ve got you. My teaching style is friendly, supportive, and down-to-earth. No judgment, no lectures—just clear explanations and real conversations that help you build confidence and actually enjoy learning. Let’s dive in!

My approach as a tutor is all about making political science and civic education clear, relevant, and even *fun*. I believe students learn best when they feel supported and engaged, so I focus on building real understanding through conversation, relatable examples, and interactive discussions—not just memorization.
In a typical session, we’ll start by checking in on what you’re working on and where you feel stuck or unsure. From there, I’ll break things down into manageable parts, connect them to current events or real-world government functions, and work through examples or exercises with you. Whether you need help analyzing a reading, prepping for an exam, outlining a paper, or reviewing class notes, I’ll tailor each lesson to fit your needs and goals.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just study political science—I’ve worked in it. From city council and county government to Congress, I bring firsthand experience that helps me explain how things actually work, not just how they’re supposed to. I also know how overwhelming political science can feel at times, so I keep things low-pressure, encouraging, and personalized.
