I create a student-centered learning experience by guiding students to reach answers on their own. As a teacher, I make my students think. That way, when they reach the answer, they truly understand how they got there and why it's important.
I balance my challenging teaching style by being goofy and energetic. My demeanor makes students feel comfortable participating, making mistakes, and learning.
I've been working within the international ESL community for 5+ years. After graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Communications, I received my TEFL Certificate and then started teaching English in Latin America. After teaching for a while, I worked as a Program Director for an international language institute. I was responsible for growing the English program and maintaining high-quality classes. I now teach and do content development for a San Diego based English institute. I have a wealth of experience teaching English. I'm passionate, enthusiastic, and effective, and I'm excited to provide services to you as well.
To whom it may concern:
I've been working within the international ESL community for 5+ years. I really like being in front of the class where I can engage with students and facilitate a fun, energetic, and effective learning experience. My dynamic time as an ESL professional has prepared me well for this role, and I'm excited to bring my expertise to helping you manage your ESL classrooms.
I began my ESL work by leading both kid and adult classes at Latin America's Maximo Nivel. Working with kids provided me with the experience needed to effectively develop material for the target age-range of this project. After teaching for a while, I jumped into a managerial position with Maximo Nivel where I supervised other ESL teachers, demonstrated effective technique during teacher on-boarding, and even assembled a curriculum for outside volunteer projects. Later on, I worked as the director for Maximo Nivel's Costa Rica Native English Program. At that time, I helped direct the entire English Program and even worked side-by-side with employees in designing a proprietary set of ESL books. I've since left Costa Rica and now work with Connect English as an ESL Instructor and content developer. In addition to lesson planning and facilitating dynamic classes, I also help in producing marketable content for Connect English as they broaden their online presence.
From teaching classes to developing lesson plans and web content to designing curriculum, I have a rich history and a nicely developed expertise in the ESL field. I'm excited to be part of your team so that we can effectively bring English to your students in an exciting and upbeat way. Learning language should be fun, and I'm well equipped to making your students' learning experience a memorable one. Thank you for the consideration, and I look forward to talking with you.
Sincerely,
Gabe John
