About Opal
With a Graduate Diploma in Piano Pedagogy and over 9 years of teaching experience, lessons focus on building technical skill and expressive artistry. Pedal technique, dynamic range, and nuanced musical interpretation are central to instruction. Students at all levels learn to feel the music as they play. Beginners receive strong foundational guidance while advanced students refine phrasing and stylistic subtlety. Sight-reading, theory, and repertoire are incorporated to enhance learning. Lessons are interactive, supportive, and goal-oriented. I encourage each student to develop a unique voice at the piano. Exercises in touch, articulation, and tone support musical expression. Confidence and emotional engagement are emphasised alongside technical mastery. Performance skills and stage presence are nurtured naturally. Lessons are designed to be both structured and creatively rewarding. Students leave inspired to connect deeply with the music. Lessons are structured to strengthen sight-reading, rhythm, and interval recognition. Students practise translating written notes into accurate, expressive performance. The Child Prodigy receives challenging exercises for rapid skill growth. The Hobbyist Adult develops confidence through progressive drills. Sight-reading exercises emphasise tempo, articulation, and steady rhythm. Visual-to-finger coordination is reinforced through targeted drills.
