Hi! I'm Tanishka, a high school student and a passionate Kathak and Bollywood dancer who has been training since the age of six. Over the years, I’ve developed a deep love for the art, mastering its intricate footwork, graceful expressions, and rhythmic storytelling. Now, I'm excited to take the next step in my journey by choreographing and teaching others. My approach blends tradition with creativity, allowing students to build a strong foundation while also exploring their unique artistic expression. Teaching Method & Techniques
I believe in a personalized and structured approach, ensuring that every student progresses at their own pace while maintaining discipline and enthusiasm. My teaching blends traditional and modern techniques, emphasizing foundational skills, rhythm, expressions, and storytelling in Kathak. I incorporate visual learning, step-by-step breakdowns, and interactive exercises to make lessons engaging and effective.
For beginners, I focus on basic footwork (tatkars), hand gestures (mudras), spins (chakkars), and rhythm cycles (taals) before moving on to choreography. Advanced students receive in-depth guidance on abhinaya (expressive storytelling), intricate footwork, and improvisation to develop their own style.
Typical Lesson Plan
Each session is tailored to the student's level but generally follows this structure:
Warm-up & Conditioning (10-15 min): Light stretches, footwork drills, and core strengthening.
Technical Training (20-30 min): Practicing taals, mudras, and chakkars with increasing complexity.
Expression & Storytelling (15 min): Exploring facial expressions, hand gestures, and emotions.
Choreography & Creative Work (30 min): Learning a routine or refining personal compositions.
Cool-down & Reflection (10 min): Discussing progress, feedback, and home practice recommendations.
