About Sarah Allison
Hi, I'm Sarah! I am a learning specialist with 10+ years of tutoring/teaching experience. I work exclusively with children who have dyslexia, reading challenges, resistance to learning, ADHD, autism, and other learning challenges. I have a MA degree in Psychology, am trained in the Orton-Gillingham method of phonics-based reading instruction, and am completing my certificate in Educational Therapy this year. Previously, I have worked as an elementary school teacher, a children's yoga/meditation instructor, and an ABA technician. Most importantly, I am very patient and kind and I genuinely love working with kids.

The children I work with often struggle in a typical classroom setting, or simply require one-on-one attention and a different way of approaching learning. Not only do I use the Orton-Gillingham method of reading instruction, but I incorporate multi-sensory methods, games, and creative ideas to make learning as fun and engaging as possible. My lessons are highly individualized to what works best for each student, whether they think differently, are resistant to learning, or exhibit challenging behavior.

Perfect! I highly recommend Sarah. She is an excellent tutor, she helped both my boys(grade3 and kindergarten) to learn and understand each concept in a customized style to match my both boys learning preferences. Her ability to simplify each topic made all the difference. My grade 3 child is now capable of tackling challenging problems that used to overwhelm him. It's been more than a year now with Sarah and I can't thank her enough of how she taught both boys deeper understanding of each concept.
Sarah's patience is truly commendable, she is fully experienced to handle kids behaviors too. Her proactive communication with me about my boys progress made everything easier for me. I am so grateful for all her efforts she put in both my boys.- A quickly picked up reading and continues to make progress towards reading comprehension.Sarah Allison's response :

Sarah is absolutely incredible. She makes learning fun and has a special knack with kids. She has been tutoring my eldest daughter for a year now in both reading and math, and my younger daughter begs to join because they’re having such a good time (which she does sometimes).
Sarah is very organized and clear about what she plans to teach every time she works with my daughter. She comes prepared with all kinds of educational materials and games to make the learning interactive. She uses both indoor and outdoor to teach (for example, she’ll introduce a sound scavenger hunt or phonics hopscotch).
She is trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, which is rooted in phonics to teach reading. This is how my daughter learns best. My daughter is a special needs kiddo, and even beyond her training, Sarah has a natural understanding of how to get through to my daughter.
Sarah is a wonderful blend of patient, organized, structured, kind, and knowledgeable. She’s easy to talk to, and I appreciate how she seamlessly aligns her lessons to what my daughter is working on at school.
I would recommend her in a heartbeat to other parents.
Thanks Sarah! We are so grateful for you!As a special needs parent, I recommend Sarah Allison as a tutor. My son really enjoys her class since she is an enthusiastic and energetic person and tutor. Over the past few months after hiring Sarah, I noticed that her lessons were apart from educational, dynamic, making my son feel like he was having fun while learning and staying engaged. Sarah has also been flexible over what to teach my son based on his needs, as a parent I would have conversations with Sarah over what he needs and Sarah would add on with her ideas and take initiative all while maintaining her dynamic ways of teaching.
