About Elias

Over the past 8 years, I’ve dedicated myself to helping school and college students discover the joy of learning the guitar. I believe that music is a universal language, and my job is to make learning it both fun and achievable for every student. I take a holistic approach, combining music theory, practical technique, and creative exercises in every lesson. Whether they’re strumming their first chords or tackling advanced pieces. I ensure that students feel supported and challenged. One of the highlights of my teaching career was guiding a group of students who formed a band, leading them through their first performances at local festivals. Their growth from nervous beginners to confident musicians was a testament to their dedication and the power of music. Watching students become more focused, self-assured, and expressive through their guitar lessons has been one of the most fulfilling aspects of my career. Music doesn’t just teach technical skills; it also helps students grow as individuals, and that’s something I’m passionate about nurturing in every lesson.

Learning guitar is a deeply personal and transformative experience, and as a teacher, my role is to help guide each student through that journey with care, attention, and expertise. With over nine years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Education, I understand that there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to learning an instrument. That’s why I take the time to understand each student’s goals, interests, and learning style to provide a highly personalized and dynamic teaching experience.

The first step in my approach is to establish a strong technical foundation. A solid grasp of fundamentals—posture, finger strength, rhythm, strumming patterns, and fretboard familiarity—ensures that students can play with ease and avoid developing bad habits. These elements are the backbone of every style of guitar playing, whether the student dreams of playing classical guitar or rocking out to their favorite band. By mastering these basics, students build confidence and comfort, enabling them to tackle more complex techniques and musical ideas down the road. Once the foundation is in place, I work with each student to explore the styles and songs that excite them the most. Passion is the key to sustained learning, so I make sure the material we cover aligns with the student’s musical interests. For some, this might mean learning to play popular songs, while others may prefer to delve into more technical styles such as jazz or classical guitar. Whatever the focus, I structure lessons in a way that allows for growth while keeping the process enjoyable and inspiring. I also focus heavily on making music theory practical and relevant. Instead of simply memorizing abstract concepts, I integrate theory directly into the learning process. For example, we might analyze a song’s chord structure, study intervals while learning a riff, or use scales to improve improvisational abilities. This approach allows students to see how theory can enhance their playing, creativity, and understanding of music. Theory becomes something they can apply in a way that makes their playing more intuitive and expressive. For students who want to compose or improvise, I provide structured exercises that encourage creativity. I believe that every guitarist has their own voice, and I encourage students to explore their unique musical identity. Whether it’s crafting their first song or improvising over a chord progression, I help students develop their skills in these areas by providing tools and feedback to spark their creativity and refine their ideas. For performance-focused students, I help them prepare for live gigs, recitals, or auditions. Performance is a vital skill, and I work with students to develop not only technical proficiency but also confidence, stage presence, and interpretation. Performance anxiety is natural, but through practice and preparation, students learn to channel their nerves into positive energy. To support learning outside of lessons, I incorporate a variety of modern tools and resources. Online metronomes, digital tuners, and interactive apps help students stay on track with their practice routines and improve their skills between lessons. By combining traditional methods with modern technology, I provide students with the tools they need to succeed and enjoy the learning process.
