About Shayna

As a dedicated and experienced educator with a deep commitment to student success, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to my tutoring sessions. Having completed my undergraduate degree in Secondary Education Social Studies from Hunter College, I am well-versed in the curriculum for grades 7-12. Currently, I am furthering my education in graduate school, pursuing a master's in history and working diligently on my thesis. This advanced study enriches my teaching, allowing me to offer a deeper and more nuanced understanding of historical events and concepts.

In my professional capacity, I teach 10th Grade Global History and 12th Grade Participation in Government and Economics at the High School for Climate Justice. This experience has honed my skills in delivering engaging and relevant content, tailored to meet the diverse needs of my students. Last summer, I successfully led a Regents prep course for the Global History Regents test, demonstrating my ability to guide students through challenging standardized exams with confidence and competence.

My research, focusing on education in the United States during the 19th and 20th centuries, informs my teaching practice, enabling me to provide historical context and insight into the evolution of the American educational system.
