Teaching Philosophy and Course Focus:

My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a profound grasp of fundamental concepts and cultivating essential learning skills to pave the way for continuous growth and critical thinking. Throughout all my courses, I guide students in honing their abilities in critical thinking, both in written and verbal communication, while applying theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. These competencies will equip students to meet the diverse challenges of future academic and professional environments.

Moreover, I actively encourage students to achieve a commendable level of expertise in specific subject areas, particularly within graduate-level courses where the curriculum directly intersects with their prospective careers.

To facilitate the development of comprehensive cognitive skills, alongside the mastery of course content, I structure my courses around three overarching themes: a dedicated emphasis on research, the refinement of writing proficiencies, and the cultivation of an ardor for effective problem-solving.

Subjects Encompassed:

Engineering Mechanics
Fluid Mechanics and Machines
Applied Thermodynamics
Engineering Thermodynamics
Heat Transfer
Turbomachinery
Internal Combustion Engines (IC Engines)
Operations Research
Vibration Analysis
ANSYS Project Work
Diverse Student Backgrounds:

My classes attract a diverse array of students from esteemed international universities such as the University of Pretoria, University of Leeds, University of Wellington, Heriot Watt University, University of Twente, UNSW Canberra, and University of Manchester, IITs, NITs, BITS, VIT.

  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

My passion for mathematics and physics began early in my academic life. I was always fascinated by how abstract mathematical concepts could describe the physical world so precisely. In physics, it amazed me how universal laws governed everything-from the motion of planets to the behavior of subatomic particles. Mathematics became the language that connected everything for me, allowing complex phenomena to be understood and modeled. As I delved deeper into these subjects, I realized that the beauty of physics lies in its ability to predict the future, while mathematics offers the tools to quantify and explore these predictions. This duality of theory and application is what sparked my lifelong interest and eventually led me to pursue a career in these fields.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My decision to teach was deeply influenced by the joy of understanding complex ideas and wanting to help others experience that same clarity. I had inspiring physics and math teachers who broke down difficult concepts in ways that made them accessible and exciting. I realized that teaching physics and mathematics allows me to shape how students perceive the world around them, helping them see the underlying order in what might seem like chaos. There's a unique satisfaction in seeing someone grasp a difficult theorem or a physical law, and that drives me to continue teaching.
  • How does your work help society?

Physics and mathematics are foundational to technological advancements and societal progress. Through my research in fields such as energy systems and fluid dynamics, I aim to solve real-world problems by applying mathematical models and physical principles. For instance, by developing better models for battery life prediction using deep learning and optimizing energy efficiency in thermal power plants, I contribute to solutions that support environmental sustainability and energy conservation. These efforts are crucial as we transition to a more energy-conscious and sustainable world. My work not only advances the understanding of these scientific areas but also applies them in ways that can have a tangible impact on society.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

My high school math teacher has been a significant role model in my life. Teachers play a crucial role in shaping the attitudes, values, and behaviors of their students. A positive role model provides an example that encourages young minds to pursue a fulfilling life. Teachers are a constant presence during a child's formative years and can have as much, if not more, influence than parents. Over time, I have witnessed the profound impact teachers have on their students. Beyond simply delivering lessons, they inspire and motivate learners both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of my academic work, I enjoy solving mathematical puzzles and reading about breakthroughs in theoretical physics. I find that engaging with abstract problems helps keep my mind sharp and open to creative solutions. I also love spending time in nature, which often inspires me to think about the physics underlying natural phenomena, like the way light interacts with the atmosphere or how gravity shapes landscapes. Moreover, I'm a fan of science fiction, as it often blends real physics with imaginative possibilities, pushing the boundaries of what we consider achievable.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One memorable anecdote from my teaching career involves a student who struggled with mathematics but was deeply passionate about the subject. Despite consistently low scores, he never gave up and would regularly visit me after class with questions. We worked together patiently, not just focusing on solving problems but also on understanding the core concepts. Over time, I saw his confidence grow, and by the end of the year, his grades improved significantly. But what stood out most was his newfound passion for learning and problem-solving. Years later, he reached out to tell me that he was pursuing a degree in engineering, with a particular interest in applied mathematics.

This experience reminded me that education isn't just about teaching concepts; it's about nurturing curiosity, resilience, and a love for learning. Seeing a student transform and find their path is one of the most rewarding aspects of being an educator.
