I have a master's degree in French from UCLA. I also majored in French at undergraduate at UCSD. I have lived in Paris for 4 years. I have taught at UCLA, community college, primary school, and tutored high school and adult students. I have taught English as a bilingual babysitter. I have taught the French only communications method for college, and I adapt to tutoring depending on the clients needs. I use songs, puzzles, books, and games with children. I use a lesson planning method that states what my goals are and how I will get there by timing each goal, introducing subjects with a transition that involves creativity and student interaction. I have realized that students need to feel like they are having fun so they can be engaged. As a teacher, I am patient and try to encourage with positive reinforcement. I can also teach ESL as I did in France and elementary to middle school math all the way up to Algebra.
I have been tutoring for ten years. I taught French for 3.5 years at UCLA. I though 19 ESL classes in Paris. At my last job as a community college adjunct I had 90 students, showing that I have organizational skills. I like teaching ESL to foreign to children/adults because they are very motivated. My English students in Paris were able to learn quickly when they were motivated by a fun task. I have always voluntareed extra office hours for students, which has improved their grades. When I taught a French film course, I set up a successful method to help them write in a successful manner.
I do this because travel can be far, as well as the preparation a lesson takes.
