I think when teaching dancers it's best they learn these things:
Balance. Balance is key to dancing, it helps you to keep a good posture and portray a more put-together dance.
Flexibility is another very important step to become a good dancer. This way you can move in ways others cant to show the full picture and show a more emotional side of dance (as in contemporary) its also good awing the judges.
Respecting others helps you in the long run. Your more respected and easier to work with when it comes to duets. It keeps a positive energy and shows you how to work with others. And dance should be a safe space where people feel welcomed not attacked.
Second to last, being on time and prepared. Being on time and prepared shows your dedication to learning dance. Getting ready for a dance class and not showing up in the right attire can put you on the sidelines cause you can't move correctly or it gets in the way. And being on time is important so you don't hold the whole class behind. When dancing it's thought out, what you're learning that day and how much should get done. Don't put the teachers in a spot to change all that up.
Lastly, dedication. If you're there slacking off showing no interest in the work, why be there? People come to dance to learn and holding everyone behind doesn't help the ones around you to succeed at that.
