About Seri

Hi! I’m Seri! I was born and raised in Japan where I attended international school, and moved to Australia for university. I've been teaching Japanese to all levels for over a year now, which has made me a well-trained language tutor:) As a former ESL kid, I understand the difficulty of learning a new language, so my goal as your tutor is to provide an engaging and comfortable learning experience! On top of that, I consider myself to be a very friendly, bright, and caring person, as my students describe me to be:) I always value my students' well-being, and make sure my students feel comfortable during the lesson. With my fluency in both English and Japanese, I can provide tailored lessons to meet individual needs!

About the lesson

Current availability: nighttime during the weekdays or daytime during the weekend!! Please let me know your availability when you first contact me:) I'd really appreciate someone who is flexible with lesson schedule!! *Only conducting online lessons atm* My teaching style consists of having conversations so that you can listen and practice the language. I'm a big believer in "Practice makes perfect" I really think that the best way to learn a language is by speaking it. I believe that I could be the perfect fit for you if you are hoping to learn "natural" Japanese, outside of textbooks. We can have everyday conversations or even act out a scenario to best fit your needs! I’m also flexible to provide some assistance for your academic work, like proofreading your Japanese essay. My lessons will be completely tailored and personalized to fit your needs so please tell me about your goals when we first see each other:)

Perfect! Seri is a wonderful tutor and I can't recommend her more highly! Her lessons are incredibly thoroughly prepared, but also flexible enough to accommodate queries or points of interest that organically come up during class time. I have a bit of a messy and sporadic history of learning Japanese in a very piecemeal way, and Seri was able to quickly adjust her lesson plan once I explained this to her, creating a highly tailored experience which was exactly what I was hoping for. I also feel that her conversational style of teaching is a great way for learners of all levels to pick up natural and fluid speaking skills, as I've found from past experience that when I either try to learn independently with apps/videos etc or take courses that are teacher-led but primarily textbook-based, my execution of the language in practice can sound a bit stiff. I feel super lucky to have found Seri as a tutor and am looking forward to improving a lot more with her guidance :)
