About Iain
Since graduating from University with a Bachelor's degree (with Distinction) in Music Technology, I have gained extensive experience of international touring as a live sound engineer, performing with acts at festivals and club shows around the world. I have also delivered guest lectures on topics such as sound design and working in the music industry at educational establishments such as the Glasgow School of Art and North East Scotland College. In addition, I currently run my own audio production business, where we've worked with a number of artists, podcasters, filmmakers and major international brands. This includes audio editing and post-production for media, as well as running an independent recording studio for local bands and musicians. Above all, I'm a reliable, enthusiastic and patient teacher and I can't wait to share my passion for music and audio with you!

Having been a teacher and Academic Coordinator for four years at a private educational organisation, I know the difference that a patient, encouraging and motivating teacher can make. My aim is to help each and every one of my students get to a point where they feel confident in dealing with any challenges they might encounter, without a teacher by their side. I am a big believer in hands-on, practical learning, and I encourage my students to put their skills into use both during our lessons and in real world situations. Our lessons can take place in my home studio where we can run through things like day to day operations and mixing a large session, or I can even come to you. Fundamentally, I will be more than happy to tailor the lesson to your needs and interests. This can be as structured as you like, either following a set curriculum or something much more flexible. We can work through anything from how to set up your computer best for recording and which DAW to use, all the way up to more advanced topics such as mastering and mixing a live show. Lessons typically last an hour and are for students of any age and level (I possess an Enhanced DBS certificate), from those who've just bought their first piece of recording equipment to those looking to break into the industry and forge a career for themselves.
