About Jason
Welcome! I’m Jason, an engineering graduate student with a deep passion for math, physics, and problem-solving. I love exploring the underlying logic behind equations and concepts and helping students develop a true understanding of the subject. My friendly teaching style focuses on breaking down complex topics into simple, intuitive steps and adapting my explanations to each student’s learning style. I believe that math and science become much easier when you understand the "why" behind the concepts, and I use real-world applications to make abstract ideas more relatable. Outside of tutoring, I love spending time with my dog Momo and spending time with my family!

As an engineering graduate student with a deep understanding of math, engineering, and problem-solving, I focus on helping students truly understand concepts - the 'why'. My teaching method is centered on breaking down complex topics into simple, logical steps, using real-world applications to make the concepts more intuitive. Lesson Structure: 1) Assess Understanding: We start by identifying where the student is in their understanding of the problem or concept. 2) Concept Breakdown: I explain the topic with clear, step-by-step reasoning, adapting to each student’s learning style and experience. 3) Relatable Problem-Solving: I guide students through short/simple relatable examples to build intuition to develop a solid conceptual foundation on the topic. 4) Application: We apply the new skills and understanding to the primary concept. 5) Review: I summarize what we went over in the lesson, and clarify any questions or comments. My ability to create relatable examples (number 3 in lesson plan) is what sets me apart as a tutor. I have a gift for understanding the student's perspective - how they think, why they are getting stuck, what they would relate to - which allows me to develop examples that target intuition and solidify real understanding of concepts. Any concept can be broken up into basic logic problems, and that is where true learning takes place. My lessons are designed for students of all levels. Whether just starting out with basic math and physics or tackling advanced topics like thermodynamics and heat transfer, I look forward to helping anyone!
