About Zara
Hello, ciao, bonjour and Guten Tag - I am delighted you clicked on my page! As a first-class BA Modern Languages (French, German, Italian) graduate from the University of Birmingham (2021), MPhil Linguistics graduate from St John's College, University of Cambridge (2023), and incoming PhD researcher in Modern Languages, I am very passionate about learning languages and enjoy looking for ways to help learners grasp them and make the process stress-free and more enjoyable. My linguistic abilities have been supplemented by teaching experiences, too, as I have spent two years working as an English teacher in Vienna (Austria) and have over 7 years of tutoring experience (both online and in-person). If you need help with grammar concepts, last-minute tips to boost your grade or just friendly, one-off conversations in the target language to boost your confidence, please do get in touch. I hope through my bubbly and friendly personality, language-learning can be a fun and stress-free process, with confidence-building at the fore. All the best, Zara University : - University of Birmingham - BA Modern Languages (French, German and Italian) [First] - University of Cambridge - MPhil Theoretical and Applied Linguistics [2023] Other Qualifications : Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

As a recent English teacher in Vienna (Austria), I am still fully aware of the content and style of English needed for exams and certificates. I have sound understanding of various mark schemes and will pass on tips and tricks to seriously boost grades and ensure top grades. At the core of my lessons, though, are creating and maintaining confident linguists who are assured of their abilities, and I do this by promoting active learning in lessons while ensuring language-learning remains a fun process. As far as exams are concerned, I am committed to overcoming exam anxiety (particularly with oral exams), so will work together to formulate oral exam answers and writing prompts/templates for the written exams. By providing my own resources of what has secured the top marks, I tailor each lesson to suit the needs of each learner.

Not only does Zara have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for languages, she truly cares about helping others to learn and succeed. She is a fantastic advocate for the subject of modern foreign languages as she wants others to realise the importance of learning another language and how greatly beneficial it can be and with her friendly, supportive manner and understanding and caring nature, this makes her an ideal tutor.
Whilst I was in my last year of GCSEs and Zara was in her last year at our school, I had seen that she was studying A-Level German and I expressed my interest in the subject to her and asked her how she was finding the course. Afterwards, she offered to help me practise my German speaking in preparation for my exam and gave me useful tips and advice based on her personal experience for the writing exam which proved to be hugely beneficial for my exams. Even though she was studying for A-Levels, she offered to help and tutor me within her own free time and that shows just how dedicated she is to helping others. Furthermore, she has encouraged and inspired me to pursue the subject further and I am truly grateful for all of her help, support and advice. When I am struggling to understand certain parts of the language, be it grammar or vocabulary, she will take the time to go through it with me and explain it in a way that makes it much easier to comprehend.View more recommendations
