About Emily
Throughout my performance career, I have had the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with incredible musicians all over the world and I would love to share some of my knowledge with you! Teaching is truly one of my passions and it is my number one priority to make sure the student I am working with feels fulfilled and inspired by the music they are creating!

My teaching method is based on the string set of fundamental work in technique including scales, etudes, and posture awareness so that you can emulate the sound you want to produce from your mind onto the instrument as naturally as possible. It is also extremely important for me to understand what your goals are so that I can best prepare you for whatever it is you want to accomplish in your studies!
My typical lesson plan would begin with a large focus on technique to set up a solid framework for creating a beautiful and relaxed sound as well as a general comfort on the instrument. Once this is established we would start working towards learning pieces of increasing difficulty to better craft the skills needed to play the instrument properly. After each piece is learned, a goal I like to have more my students is to record themselves playing the piece so that we can document progress and assess what needs to be worked on in more depth.
I believe what sets me apart as a tutor is that I have worked with so many different teachers from all of the world during my education that I feel I have been able to take all of my most valuable knowledge from them and put it into my own lesson plan!
These lessons are catered to any age or level, I have been a performing cellist for the past 10 years and I teach beginners to advanced players. Looking forward to working with you!
