About Ivy
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music with a specialization in violin performance, and I’ve been teaching for six years. My experience includes solo recitals, orchestral playing, and chamber ensembles. This wide background allows me to offer both foundational training and advanced mentorship. My teaching approach is adaptive and encouraging—I believe every student learns differently and deserves guidance that matches their pace. Whether you’re just beginning or have years of experience, I work to balance technical discipline with creativity so that learning remains both productive and joyful. In addition to teaching, I actively perform in classical concerts and collaborate on studio projects. These ongoing experiences keep me connected to current trends in technique and interpretation. My goal is to inspire a love for the instrument while helping students build long-term confidence and musical independence.

Our early lessons focus on introducing the instrument with comfort and clarity. We begin with posture, bow grip, and learning to produce steady, clean tones. Students are introduced to open string exercises, beginner scales, and simple melodies that help establish strong muscle memory and pitch recognition from the start.
As students progress, the curriculum expands to include first and third position playing, vibrato development, and reading more complex sheet music. Emphasis is placed on phrasing, tone variation, and expressive control. Repertoire is selected based on individual interest—ranging from classical studies to folk or contemporary pieces.
For advanced learners, we explore complex etudes, shifting techniques, double stops, and emotional interpretation. Lessons are tailored to performance readiness, competition prep, or exam goals. Focus is placed on musical nuance, technical refinement, and unlocking your personal style as a violinist through dynamic, challenging repertoire.
