About Mae
I hold a Master’s degree in Music with a specialization in guitar performance and have been teaching for over seven years. My educational background combines strong technical training with artistic development, allowing me to guide students in both disciplined practice and creative expression. Over the years, I have worked with more than forty-five learners of varying ages and skill levels. Some began with no prior experience, while others sought advanced preparation for recitals or auditions. Many achieved significant breakthroughs, from mastering challenging pieces to performing confidently in front of audiences. Outside of teaching, I actively perform, compose, and study guitar repertoire across different styles. This continual engagement keeps my lessons fresh, relevant, and inspiring for students. My ultimate goal is not only to help learners master the guitar but also to nurture their lifelong love for music.

My guitar lessons start with essential foundations such as posture, basic chords, and rhythm control. Students are introduced to strumming patterns and simple progressions that allow them to play songs quickly while also understanding the mechanics behind the music. This structured beginning ensures confidence and steady growth.
As learners advance, I place emphasis on fingerpicking, scales, and fretboard navigation. These skills are taught through practical exercises and musical examples, allowing students to gain both dexterity and creativity. Improvisation and solo-building are integrated at this stage to encourage self-expression and strengthen technical command.
Performance preparation and versatility are also major parts of my teaching. Learners explore different genres including classical, blues, and rock, giving them flexibility and depth as musicians. Lessons also include tips for overcoming performance anxiety, mastering stage presence, and delivering polished performances in both personal and professional settings.
