About Harper

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and have been teaching guitar for over 5 years, working with students from various backgrounds and skill levels. My formal education gave me a strong foundation in music theory, performance, and composition, which I bring into every lesson to help students understand not just how to play, but how music works. My teaching journey began shortly after completing my degree, and over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of helping students develop their abilities in both acoustic and electric guitar. I specialize in fingerstyle, chord theory, and improvisation, and I enjoy guiding learners through a mix of structured technique and creative expression. I aim to create a positive, flexible, and supportive learning environment. Whether a student wants to play for fun, prepare for exams, or perform live, I adapt my teaching style to best meet their goals and learning pace. My lessons are built around mutual respect, patience, and genuine encouragement. Outside of teaching, I actively compose and perform, which keeps my musicianship fresh and relevant. I believe that being a working musician helps me connect more deeply with students and bring real-world experience into the learning process. Watching my students grow into confident, skilled guitarists is the most rewarding part of what I do.

About the lesson

My guitar lessons are thoughtfully structured to cater to students of all levels, from complete beginners to those looking to refine advanced techniques. I begin by understanding each student’s personal goals and musical tastes to ensure lessons are relevant, motivating, and enjoyable. Whether you're interested in acoustic or electric guitar, lessons are adjusted to suit your preferred style.

Throughout our sessions, we’ll focus on fingerstyle techniques, chord theory, and improvisation, helping you gain both control and creativity on the instrument. Lessons include practical exercises, listening activities, and learning songs that match your current level and stretch your ability just enough to keep you growing steadily.

A key part of my approach is fostering musical independence. I aim to equip you not only with skills to play but with the knowledge to understand what you’re playing and why. Music theory is introduced in manageable steps and always in a way that connects back to your playing.

Each lesson is a mix of technical practice and musical exploration. You’ll get constructive feedback, clear goals, and the encouragement needed to stay motivated. Most importantly, I work to make the experience of learning the guitar something you look forward to every time we meet.
