About ZiWei

Hi, I'm ZiWei - but call me Amira! I am a graduate of Harvard University (c/o 2020) with a degree in Neuroscience. I have been teaching various subjects such as English, French, and math (pre-calculus) since 10th grade. I have 5+ years of experience teaching business English, including conducting mock interviews, resume reviews, and SAT/ACT/IELTS/TOEFL preparation. I am adept at professional writing and have edited 100+ pieces of academic writing, including class papers and college application essays.

About the lesson

I believe that speaking is the best way to learn a new language. My classes are speaking-focused, covering a variety of topics meant to improve your vocabulary and overall flow of speech. After the introductory lesson, we will create a focused plan on your weaknesses and how to tackle them. Homework assignments (reading, writing) will be given.

I speak Mandarin/French/Spanish as well as English. While I try to conduct the majority of my lessons entirely in English, I cater to each student according to proficiency level.

She has really helped me build my self-confidence and speaking skills by being open and encouraging me to ask questions whenever possible. Quite often, she has also engaged with me after noticing that a new exercise or sentence was difficult, asking me to rephrase it in my own words and prompting me to come up with different ways of explaining a concept.
