Hello! My name is Penelope, I am a student at the University of Florida. I swam for 12 years and have taught swim lessons for over 2 years.

About the lesson
When I learned to swim I was taught in a more inclusive and hands-on way. This method helped me a lot and I have seen it help the swimmers I have taught in the past.
I teach swimmers of all level ranges but I prefer to teach those above the age of 3 as I feel more comfortable and more in control of the lesson.
With a beginning swimmer, I would incorporate games into the way I teach them in order to keep them engaged. For example, when teaching freestyle the movement of the arm is very important, telling them they have to complete a full rainbow in order to have a complete stroke will make the lesson easier to understand.
For an intermediate swimmer, I would start with longer distances and work with all the strokes while also making them stronger. In the past, I have swum alongside the swimmer as a way to encourage them, which I believe is important in this stage of swimming.
- All Levels
I am a student studying architecture at the University of Florida, I am also a teacher assistant who is constantly working to aid other students.
Outside of school, I enjoy working out, and I especially love to swim. Swimming was a huge part of my life growing up, I did competitive swimming before I decided to stop when I reached my college level of education.
I did continue teaching lessons and I am hoping to start back up again!
