About Suzie

Hello, Students in London, Uk & Toronto, CA!

I founded Suzie Battishill Culinary Coaching, in London, Uk in 2023. In 2025 I moved out to Toronto, Ontario. I am now working with clients in both the UK & Toronto (GTA)

I help home cooks break free from rigid recipes through bespoke cookery courses designed to build confidence, creativity, and control in the kitchen. By mastering essential skills and techniques, exploring global cuisines, and working with fresh, whole foods, you’ll learn to cook instinctively—creating meals that suit your taste, lifestyle, and dietary needs with ease.

Cooking is my meditation, my reset button, and my way to nourish both body and mind. It keeps me healthy, curious, and grounded. I’m constantly learning and growing in the kitchen—and everything I learn, I pass on to my students in a down-to-earth, digestible way.   • 1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

    I can definitely attribute my passion around food to my mother as cooking & eating was the heartbeat of our family dynamic. I started cooking from a very young age. My first job was as a pastry chef on a Saturday morning at the age of 14. I found it was my way of relaxing and switching off!
  • 2) Which artists or works affect you the most?

    I grew up watching and loving Mary Berry & Jamie Oliver. As a dyslexic I have never enjoyed reading so recipe books were never my way into the food world. Both these home cooks had brillant television shows that I watched with such interest and taught me a lot!
  • 3) What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

    You have to understand the idea of heat and its effect on sugars and water this is how to understand what 'cooking' actually is and what the principle of applying heat to food. The other quality is to understand what each ingredient tastes like so you become confident with taste profiles to build balanced flavour.
  • 4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

    Don't try and do it all at once! If you want to become a better home cook then start by doing one thing. I recommend a good starting point is to prioritise a weekly shop. Every week make time to do a big supermarket shop, don't go with a list as such, discover your creativity by picking up ingredients that intrigue you. If you don't have different and exciting ingredients in the house it is hard to feel creative when tired from a long day at work!
  • 5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

    I feel relaxed when in the kitchen it gets me on my feet, out of my head and making something that I know will nourish my body. I find the whole process very relaxing.
  • 6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

    I have worked in various different settings that have stretched and challenged me. I am most proud of where I am now as I have used all my industry experience and now use it to make home cooking as easy, streamlined and effortless to ensure that I nourish my body with whole foods on a daily basis. Not only am I proud of my personal nutritional progress but I help enable others achieve their own personal goals which I find extremely rewarding.
  • 7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

    Each student that comes my way has a differ approach in the kitchen, some are super confident in the beginning others need a little encouragement to get there creative juices flowing. I am always staggered when I see all my students at the end of there course the confidence in how they talk about food and cooking, the progress they have made in there own household, the little wins day to day that they are making impresses me everyday. And above all there knife skills!
  • 8) Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

    To relax, be kind to yourself and not expect to be perfect at every skill, have a curious mind that keeps on learning and absorbing information.
