About Calum
I am a student at Riverside Secondary looking to make some money while helping out with teaching as teaching is an ambition of mine that I would like to explore. I have done peer-tutoring in a private setting *1 on 1* and, I am the stereotypical kid that everyone goes to with their questions, I strongly enjoy teaching and would like to help out who ever might need it in my listed high school courses. As I have no concrete qualifications, I can only state that I am a good fit for these high school course needs and the only tangible fall back I have is the abundance of praise I receive from my teachers and one paraphrased quote in particular from my physics teacher to my mother "He always shows me different explanations of question that I have to really think about, but they always come back right". My physics teacher is also a former NASA employee. But as I do not have qualifications this is largely based on trust and as such I will not include a resume because it would not include any more than I have written.

I like to teach in a way that forces the student to think for themselves by only giving light guidance in the right direction to promote critical thinking, which, in my opinion, high schools severely lack. How high schools typically work is: the teacher gives a question, and then immediately tells you the exact steps to do it with less explanation of why it actually works. What I believe this teaching style promotes is regurgitation that shortly after a test is forgotten because how they studied was by following exactly what the teacher said as opposed to thinking about it for themselves which is super harmful. So what I promote is how to think as opposed to how to do a question.
