About Aylar

I have worked for 10+ years in education teaching both the violin and viola across the UK and Channel Islands to students as young as four years right up until adulthood. My professional teaching résumé has seen all of my students pass their music examinations (100% pass rate) and gain places at top universities. I do believe that learning to play an instrument can enhance your cognitive skills as well as being a great creative outlet. I'm passionate about my subject and have come from a diverse musical background. My instrumental journey started at my local community music service and quickly developed after just two years into a fully-funded place at The Junior Royal Academy of Music at 13 years old, I know just how music can inspire and change the course of someone's life. I have studied with a range of teachers from different schooling methodologies and try to use a range of Kodály, Dalcroze and Colourstrings exercises in my lessons. I believe that good technique helps cultivate a love of learning and whilst I do place emphasis on this at the beginning, I am always open to covering a range of genres in lessons. I am classically trained but have worked in the jazz, pop, rock, theatre and film sectors so will be most happy to cultivate a well-rounded musical education. I have worked as a professional violinist from the age of 16 and was a member of various prestigious children youth orchestras including The National Children's Orchestra, The National Children's Chamber Orchestra, The National Youth Chamber Orchestra and The London Schools' Symphony Orchestra. After completing my studies at both The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, I have gone to perform in European tours and have worked as a freelance violinist/violist in film, TV and theatre.

About the lesson

Since graduating from The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2012, I have worked as a professional string player and teacher. Recent playing experience includes recording strings for shows that have appeared on both Netflix and Apple TV, and previous teaching posts have seen me work at prestigious British international teaching schools and Channel Island music services. I was involved in many national orchestras from a young age and have a thorough understanding of the necessary requirements to ensure students are ready for auditions and competitions at a variety of levels. I am a passionate and engaging teacher who uses a wide range of teaching styles to ensure students make progress week-to-week. Playing with ease is important and I try to implore various relaxation and posture exercises. I am classically trained but have worked in the commercial sector too as a pop/rock violinist so am happy to teach all genres. My previous teaching experience has seen me work with toddlers right through to adults so I am comfortable teaching any age.
