About William
Hello! My name is William Willis, and I am a dedicated Social Studies and History educator with nearly a decade of experience teaching at both the middle school and high school levels. I hold a Master’s in Education with a specialization in EdTech, Administration, and Curriculum, and have built my career on making history meaningful, engaging, and relevant for every learner. As a tutor, my approach goes beyond memorizing facts and dates — I focus on helping students think critically, analyze sources, and make connections between the past and today’s world. I believe that when students view history as a living subject, they not only perform better in class but also gain the tools to become informed and active citizens. A typical session with me begins with a short review and goal-setting, followed by interactive activities such as analyzing primary sources, working with timelines and maps, or preparing for assessments with guided practice. I adapt lessons to meet each student’s unique needs — whether it’s strengthening essay writing, preparing for exams like STAAR or AP History, or building confidence in class participation. What sets me apart is my student-centered approach and proven record of results. In the classroom, I have helped raise U.S. History EOC performance from 37% to 96% by using data-driven strategies, personalized support, and creative lesson design. I bring the same professionalism, patience, and adaptability to tutoring, ensuring that each student feels supported and challenged at the right level. I work with middle school (6–8) and high school (9–12) students in World Cultures, U.S. History, World History, Government, and Economics. Whether your goal is to boost grades, prepare for an exam, or gain confidence in Social Studies, I am here to help you succeed.

My Teaching Method and Techniques
I believe history should be more than memorizing dates — it should spark curiosity and critical thinking. My approach combines storytelling, inquiry-based learning, and real-world connections so students understand not only what happened but also why it matters today. I use primary sources, debates, and interactive maps to encourage students to think like historians.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson begins with a hook that connects the topic to students’ lives or current events. We then dive into guided exploration through readings, visuals, or activities. Students work on analyzing sources, discussing perspectives, and applying knowledge through writing or projects. Finally, we wrap up with a reflection or a quick assessment to reinforce understanding.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Experience: Nearly a decade of teaching both middle and high school Social Studies courses.
Adaptability: Skilled in modifying lessons for different learning styles and abilities, including advanced, struggling, or special education students.
Engagement: Lessons are interactive, not lecture-heavy — students debate, analyze, and create.
Connection: I help students see the link between past events and the issues shaping today’s world.
Who My Lessons Are For
I specialize in teaching:
Middle School (6–8): World Cultures, U.S. History, Geography, and Civics.
High School (9–12): U.S. History, World History, Government, and Economics.
