About Hugo
I hold a Master’s degree in Music with a specialisation in violin performance and have spent over 6 years teaching violin to students of all ages. My teaching philosophy is rooted in patience and structure, helping each student learn at their own rhythm while gaining confidence and technique. Alongside teaching, I’ve performed with orchestras, chamber groups, and as a soloist in both concert and studio settings. These experiences allow me to bring a wide perspective into lessons, offering both classical training and practical guidance for performance or recording. Teaching violin allows me to pass along the beauty and discipline of music in a way that’s accessible and motivating. I believe learning an instrument is not only about skill but self-discovery. I’m committed to helping each student find joy, focus, and freedom through music.

Violin lessons begin with building a solid foundation in instrument handling, posture, and bow grip. For beginners, we emphasise simple finger patterns, rhythm exercises, and open string bowing to establish tone and timing. Each session builds comfort with the violin while introducing music gradually through repetition and listening. As students become more confident, we explore scales, dynamics, and simple pieces to develop coordination and musical sensitivity. Technique is introduced through structured methods while still allowing room for creativity. Focus is placed on correct intonation, tone production, and note reading through fun and achievable repertoire. For intermediate to advanced learners, lessons include vibrato, shifting positions, and expression through phrasing and dynamics. We also study classical works and explore optional improvisation or duet playing. Lessons are flexible to suit personal goals—whether preparing for exams, auditions, or simply refining one’s artistic expression.
