My teaching method is first to understand the student's goals, to create a plan for reaching that goal and ensuring that the plan is realistic with regards to the student's style of learning. I am a big believer in goal setting, preparation and optimizing learning through scientifically proven methods for learning such as spaced repetition and active learning. I wish to give every student the tools and support they need to build confidence in their own abilities and to create long lasting study habits that will help them to succeed.
I am a college graduate currently taking a gap year to prepare my medical school application. For 5 years now I have tutored students from middle school to high school in subjects ranging from biology, chemistry, algebra, geometry, academic writing and college application essay writing. I have had success with working with students one-on-one in group settings, both as a private tutor as well as a volunteer coach for non-profit youth education programs.
Rates will vary according to the level of the student and travel expenses. No refunds will be provided for cancellations not communicated within 24 hours of the student's scheduled lesson.
