About David
I have periodic teaching experience going back to when I mentored younger children in my childhood. Homeschooled my two children in addition to their public schooling. Teaching assistant in the Philosophy Dept. at Brown U. In Philosophy of Mind sectoin, I inspired students to pursue philosophy and cognitive science. Have also taught cooking and second-grade Sunday School. I've been reporter, editor, publisher in a variety of media. I have also often moonlighted or operated businesses related to gourmet cooking, dining and product development.

My teaching approach is to assess students' reading ability and seek to boost it alongside and as the essential basis for all other pursuits. I firmly believe in phonics, and if students have been taught under so-called "Whole Language Theory," we will go back to basics so students are prepared to sound out unfamiliar words that they will encounter as their studies and life advance. Depending on age, I will balance praise and support with honest critique and correction, letting the student(s) take the lead in identifying and correcting their own errors.
