About Matthew
I graduated from the University of West Los Angeles School of Law (UWLA) here in Inglewood, CA, and received my Juris Doctorate degree with Honors in June 2016. I have been tutoring for over 20 years, while pursuing higher education, and have had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of students coming from different backgrounds and having different skills and skill sets including elementary, junior high, high school, and college level students. I have taught both in a class setting as well as tutored many students individually or in small groups. I can teach math up to the Calculus AB level, including elementary and junior high school mathematics, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Finite Mathematics, and College Algebra. I have been teaching Chemistry for several years now and I am very proficient at it. I also teach English Composition and Reading Comprehension to students of all levels including and up to the College level. Most of my students are junior high and high school students who may be struggling with writing and critically analyzing what they are reading. I also have extensive experience preparing students for standardized exams, specifically the PSAT Math Sections, SAT I Math Sections, SAT II Math Sections (both the Level 1 and Level II), as well as the ACT Math & Science Sections, and have been able to help my former students significantly increase their scores on these exams. Moreover, I have had significant experience with helping students work on and prepare superb and successful personal statements which have helped them get admitted into various schools and programs of their choosing including but not limited to both the University of California and the University of Southern California.

After years of teaching both in a classroom setting and one-on-one tutoring, it has become clear that the best way to help improve a student's understanding in a subject area is by being able to give the student the individualized attention and guidance that he/she needs in order to comprehend different subjects and succeed academically. Because I am able to communicate with a diverse array of people and because of my proficiency in teaching the subject matter that I intend to teach, I am able to better reach out to my students and help them think critically while getting them to become more self-reliant in problem solving. This is partly due to my versatile teaching style aimed at adapting to each student's individual learning style as well as my ability to help my students think creatively especially as this applies to their success in understanding complex mathematical concepts and applying what they know to solving multi-step mathematical problems.

Perfect! As a parent, I'm thrilled to share my positive experience with Mathew, our son's new math tutor. From the very first lesson, Mathew's passion for math and his ability to connect with my son were evident. He immediately understood my son's learning style and tailored the lesson accordingly, making complex concepts easy to grasp.
My son was particularly impressed by Mathew's encouragement to ask questions and challenge himself. Mathew's patience and willingness to help my son formulate his own questions to strengthen his understanding of the course material have been invaluable.
After just one session, my son is eager to continue working with Mathew. He feels more confident in his math abilities and is motivated to tackle even the most challenging problems. I highly recommend Mathew to any parent seeking a skilled and enthusiastic math tutor who can help their child reach their full potential.View more reviews
