About Zoey
I'm a guitar tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Music, majoring in Guitar. My journey with music has taken me beyond scales and solos—into the heart of rhythm, culture, and expression. I’ve led workshops on flamenco's fiery passion, bossa nova’s smooth syncopation, and the meditative phrasing of Hindustani classical music. These world styles have shaped not just how I play, but how I teach. My lessons are interactive, exploratory, and designed for intermediate to expert learners ready to expand their musical horizons. I focus on technique, yes—but always through the lens of cultural context and musical storytelling. You'll dive into phrasing, rhythmic precision, and the subtle nuances that make each style unique. My teaching approach is all about keeping things fun, friendly, and beginner-friendly. I believe learning guitar should feel exciting from the very first note. That’s why I use color-coded tabs and simple, catchy melodies to get students playing music they recognize and love.
We begin each session with light finger muscle warm-ups to build strength and avoid strain. Then we explore sound patterns through listening games and playful rhythm exercises that feel more like music jams than drills. I also introduce strumming through interactive games that help students feel the groove before worrying about the rules.
Lessons are structured, but not rigid. I guide students step by step, offering just enough challenge to keep things motivating without ever overwhelming them. For students who need emotional connection to stay engaged, I bring music that reflects their moods, their stories, and their energy.
Some learners blossom when the pressure’s off—and I create space for exactly that. Others need a gentle push to take risks—and I’m there with encouragement when it counts. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time or trying again after giving up, we'll build your skills through music that moves you.
