About Kai
Hello! I’m a passionate piano tutor with 14 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Collaborative Piano. I believe that every student’s musical journey is unique, and I strive to create lessons that reflect their individual strengths and goals. My teaching approach blends critical thinking, musicality, and curiosity to help students become thoughtful, expressive musicians. I support holistic development through technique, music theory, ear training, and even a bit of music history. These elements work together to build a deeper understanding of the piano and a lasting connection to music. Whether you're exploring expressive phrasing, refining finger control, or interpreting a new style, I guide each step with patience and clarity. I’ve worked with students from early intermediate to advanced levels, including those pursuing professional or expert goals. We explore expressive playing, gentle improvisation, and pieces that bring calm and confidence. For those diving into jazz, I offer guidance on chords, swing rhythms, and creative freedom.
Sight-reading, rhythm skills, and ear training are woven into lessons naturally. I also teach students how to express themselves through dynamics and phrasing.
