About Hiromi

With experience of teaching English as a foreign language in Japan for over 20 years, I can make my lessons designed for your purposes and goals of learning Japanese according to your Japanese level. I am a compassionate and patient teacher and love teaching. I have completed all the requirements of the Japanese Language Teacher Training Course (Over 420 hours) to be a professional Japanese teacher. If you are considering trying ALT (Assistant Language Teacher) from JET Program (The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program), we can talk about how ALT’s jobs are expected and some tips to work in collaboration with Japanese English teachers. I have experience of teaching in Japanese class (LOTE) as an assistant teacher in Brisbane for one year. It was 25 years ago, but I still keep in touch with some students. I learned how Japanese learners develop their skills from that experience. My English level is advanced level, CEFR C1 (Eiken Grade 1). I usually use Japanese in my Japanese lessons, but if you need clear explanations in English for your understanding, I can speak English for you. I am a native Japanese speaker, so I can teach you not only Japanese language but also culture, customs, manners, people’s real lives, sightseeing spots, and so on with real materials corresponding to your interests and concerns. Even though I am a professional teacher with over 20-year-teaching experience at primary and secondary schools in Japan, I just started to try teaching Japanese after finishing the Japanese Language Teacher Training Course. So, my lesson fee per hour is low, $30. I will increase my lesson fee from November. But before that, my lesson fee for my new students will stay with $30 as long as you stay studying with me.

About the lesson

Welcome, all of you from beginner to advanced! I would like to have a free lesson with you first. Please let me know your purposes and goals of your Japanese learning journey. I would like to design your lesson based on your requests. I offer free conversation lessons, or we can use the textbooks/materials that you have. I can help you with helping your Japanese class homework/assignments. I would prepare materials with different topics based on what you want to learn or interest in. I usually use a textbook for beginner students, Japanese from Zero（ゼロからの日本語）or Minna no Nihongo（みんなの日本語） for basic grammar and vocabulary. However, you are studying with another textbook and want to study with it, please let me know. We will use your requesting textbook. I also correct your grammar errors in the lesson. If you want to learn how to speak more like a native speaker or improve your Japanese, I am here to help you! My lessons are provided through video online. If your location is close to my place, we can arrange a private lesson in person.
