I have only tutored three children but I've learned you have to get to know the child beforehand in order for them to want to learn. I than figure out which approach is better for them. Are they more of a listener, do they like little tricks or riddles to remember, or do they simply have to keep trying until they get it.
I tutored in different types of math for two years. I personally never received anything less than a B in mathematics and only received one B. I graduated with a Cumulative weighted 4.1 GPA. All my tutees received nothing less than a C.
