About Augustine
As a voice coach with 8+ years of experience and a background that bridges the worlds of classical music, theater, and contemporary songwriting, I help singers build voices that are technically strong, artistically expressive, and uniquely their own. I design lessons that are fully tailored to the student—factoring in vocal type, learning goals, preferred genre, and long-term aspirations. We start with a core foundation: breath work, tone placement, tension release, vocal agility, and resonance balancing. From there, we layer in musicality: phrasing, lyric interpretation, emotional dynamics, and audience connection. Whether you're preparing for college auditions, refining an original song, or finally committing to your singing journey after years of hesitation, I’ll guide you step by step. I use a blend of modern tools—including playback software, piano accompaniment, and online practice platforms—to support daily learning and keep students engaged. We also work on audition packages, performance etiquette, microphone technique, and managing nerves in high-pressure situations. For students who write or arrange their own music, I offer collaborative support in shaping vocal parts, harmonies, and emotional flow. My teaching environment is open, nonjudgmental, and rooted in the belief that your voice is an instrument of power and connection. My students have performed in regional and school theater, recorded music, joined touring groups, and rediscovered the joy of singing in their everyday lives. Whatever your path, I’m here to help you build the voice—and the confidence—to walk it.

The voice is our most natural and intimate instrument—shaped by breath, emotion, identity, and experience. I view vocal teaching as a partnership that nurtures Technique, Expressive Range, Cultural Awareness, and Long-Term Confidence.
Technique is our first shared language, and I support each student in building strong fundamentals tailored to their anatomy, goals, and style preferences. We work on breath coordination, laryngeal stability, posture, range development, and tone balancing. I use evidence-based vocal pedagogy while adapting exercises to suit different learning styles, always emphasizing comfort, curiosity, and efficiency. Expressive range is where the artistry begins. Once the technique is in place, we unlock storytelling skills—learning to shape phrases, interpret lyrics, and emotionally embody the music. I invite students to engage personally with their repertoire, using character development, visualization, and vocal coloring to make meaning out of sound. Cultural awareness underpins our song choices and discussions.
My studio embraces music from a variety of traditions, and I strive to present repertoire that reflects not only classical and contemporary Western music but also global genres, Indigenous practices, diasporic expressions, and underrepresented composers. We discuss cultural context and approach all styles with humility and openness. Long-term confidence is the heart of my teaching. Singing can be vulnerable, and I help students build resilience and pride in their unique voices. I teach self-assessment strategies, smart practice routines, and mental performance tools like breath-focused grounding and visualization.
Whether preparing for auditions, open mics, academic recitals, or personal growth, my students leave each lesson more capable of navigating their own vocal journeys. My role is to facilitate their growth, not to shape them into someone else’s idea of a singer—but to help them uncover, strengthen, and trust the voice that is authentically their own.
