About Brandon
I have a natural affinity to physical sciences, and education through basic undergraduate physics. I can teach middle and high school physics up to the AP level, including test preparation/optimizing test taking strategies and integrating mathematics foundations to learn how to solve problems that have not been taught yet.
The main skill that I teach is learning how to deconstruct a problem and solve it using the knowledge that one has. This is immensely useful for the AP exam by allowing a test taker to gain credit on written responses by achieving a near solution with the formulas and concepts that they most thoroughly understand.
Physics can feel complex, but is easy to break down into comprehensible parts that are satisfying to learn and fun to use. I believe that physics is a subject that everyone can relate to, and there are many perspectives by which to understand physics. I will work with every student to identify the way that makes this subject easiest to learn and hone in on the strengths that allows them to succeed by breaking the unknown into smaller pieces of known material.

Physics is one of the coolest subjects in school because it allows its students to affect the world with precision and accuracy. Understanding physics in a high school setting can be tedious and draining to focus on; so my solution is to make physics fun by teaching concepts through real world experimentation and application.
My lessons are modeled after my AP physics class where we learned how to use academic physics to: launch a flaming hot wheels car into a cup of water, calculate force in action movies, estimate the speed of the human eyelid using a ruler and a clock, and other fun and practical experiments.
I think that physics is the best way to teach calculus, and structure most of my physics applications around conceptual understanding of the laws of physics. This allows students to solve novel problems by using a skill set that develops understanding of the basic principles of the subject. I was able to work my way through the AP physics exam by breaking questions down and thinking about solutions from the level that I understood, without memorizing every possible question.
Physics should be a tool to help a person solve any problem they encounter in the physical world, not just memorizing answers to a test.
