About Mara
I am a passionate Chess tutor with 7 years of experience teaching high school and college students. So far, I have successfully taught around 150 students, helping many of them improve their game and build strong thinking skills. My teaching philosophy is to make learning Chess fun, clear, and focused on each student’s personal growth. I believe in teaching through real game examples, puzzles, and strategies that match the student’s level. I focus on building confidence, planning skills, and creative thinking in every session. One of my proudest achievements is seeing my students win school tournaments and grow into smart, independent players. I’m here to support, guide, and inspire every step of the way.

My teaching approach in Chess is centered around real-life examples, strategic case studies, and fostering creative thinking on the board. I believe every move in chess reflects deeper decision-making, so I guide students to think critically, plan ahead, and adapt with flexibility. I use famous games, tactical puzzles, and practical scenarios to make learning both engaging and relatable.
Beyond Chess, I also teach related subjects like Checkers, Backgammon, Risk, and Settlers of Catan, using similar methods rooted in logic, patience, and strategy. Motivation and integrity are key values in my sessions—I encourage students to play with focus, fairness, and a growth mindset. I tailor each lesson to the learner’s level and pace, whether they’re just starting or preparing for tournaments.
Creativity is always encouraged, as I believe strong players are also original thinkers. With a supportive and flexible approach, I help students build confidence, sharpen skills, and enjoy the journey of learning.
