About Maia
I’m a violin tutor with over 10 years of teaching experience and a Diploma in Classical Violin. While my foundation is rooted in classical technique, my true passion lies in exploring the violin beyond its traditional boundaries. I love blending styles like jazz, rock, hip-hop strings, and world music into my lessons. Improvisation plays a big role in how I teach. I encourage students to break free from the page and start creating their own sound. With the help of looping pedals and creative performance tools, we explore layering, rhythm, and expressive playing. I guide students in writing their own solos, adapting popular songs, and experimenting with tone, texture, and effects. It’s not just about playing what’s written—it’s about shaping music that feels personal. Whether you're new to the violin or looking to try something fresh, I’ll help you develop confidence and creativity. I enjoy working with curious minds who want to do more than just follow the rules. Let’s explore what the violin can really do. Together, we’ll turn tradition into inspiration and sound into something truly your own.

My violin teaching approach is expressive, supportive, and focused on helping students find their unique musical voice. I work with both beginners and more experienced players, guiding them through proper technique, posture, and tone production. Building strong fundamentals is important, but so is enjoying the music you play.
I include ear training in every lesson to help students listen deeply and play with greater accuracy and emotion. We also focus on rhythm, pitch, and developing a musical ear that supports both solo and group playing. I use exercises, warm-ups, and fun challenges to make technique-building feel natural and rewarding.
For students who love to perform, I help build stage confidence through mock performances and expressive playing. I especially enjoy helping those who connect emotionally with music—whether it’s through storytelling, performance, or spiritual expression. We explore how to bring feelings into the sound and make every note meaningful.
I adapt my teaching to suit different goals, from casual learning to stage-ready preparation. My goal is to create a space where students feel free to grow, express, and enjoy the journey. Music is not just a skill—it’s a way of connecting. Let’s bring your violin playing to life.
