About Willow
My teaching approach is designed to empower fast-track learners who are aiming for competitions or early conservatory entrance. I create a focused, high-energy environment where ambitious students can thrive. Lessons emphasize speed-focused scale routines to build agility, accuracy, and control. We shape competition repertoire with attention to stylistic detail, musical storytelling, and technical excellence. I incorporate feedback loop training, enabling students to self-evaluate, adjust quickly, and refine their playing between lessons. We dive deep into bow control under pressure, working on articulation clarity and expressive nuance. Intonation is drilled in tempo, combining precision with performance pacing. Dynamic contrasts are explored boldly, helping students command the stage with intention. For learners who are expressive and imaginative, I nurture their artistic voice while grounding it in solid technique. For those who are structured and goal-driven, I provide clear milestones and progress tracking. I also support adult learners seeking confidence and musical fulfillment through challenging yet affirming guidance. Theater-inspired students are encouraged to bring dramatic presence and flair into their performance. Each session is a step toward mastery, purposefully crafted to push boundaries while celebrating growth.

I am a dedicated violin tutor with 10 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music Education in Strings (Violin). My passion lies in group instruction, where I specialize in ensemble classes, orchestral sectionals, and chamber music coaching. I believe that learning in a group nurtures musical growth, teamwork, and shared joy.
Throughout my career, I have worked extensively with youth orchestras and school ensembles, guiding students through the unique demands of ensemble playing. I focus on developing strong listening skills, helping students blend their sound and tune effectively within a group. My approach emphasizes musical sensitivity and awareness, fostering a cohesive and expressive ensemble.
I also train young musicians in leadership, especially those taking on the role of concertmaster. I coach them in confidence, cueing, and setting the tone for the group. My sessions are structured yet encouraging, allowing students to take musical ownership and grow together. Whether coaching small chamber groups or full string sections, I ensure every student contributes meaningfully. Seeing them thrive in harmony is my greatest reward.
