About Ed
I am a Masters Graduate from the University of Lancaster in Physics with Particle Physics and Cosmology. My Final project was using data simulating the Hadron collider through a Deep Learning Neural Network I made to investigate the CP Parity of the Higgs Boson. I want to teach part-time because I suffered through poor explanations and teaching whilst I was at school and felt no teachers ever answered my questions in enough detail for me to understand the maths I was doing until my late years of university. Had I learnt this understanding earlier on, the knowledge I developed would have been much easier and more engaging. I hope to give back what I have learnt to students willing to listen to ease their progress into STEM subjects. In my spare time I am training to be an officer in the Reserves Army, this has taught me a great deal about engaging people and choosing the right level of detail to give to the people I am with.

A typical lesson with me would always begin with identifying what the student wants to get out of the lesson, such as any specific problems they are experiencing. I pride myself in not repeating the same explanations many times, but finding alternative ways to explain a topic and finding ways to relate it to real-life problems. I've seen this help better, and much quicker, than some traditional methods of writing out equations with no reason or explanation. My intent is that by better understanding what the maths does, the student better remembers how to use it. I achieve this by relating the maths to problems I have come across in physics or finance. My length of lesson is up to the tutee and I am very flexible for timings and to suit your needs. I aim at A-Level study Maths, Further Maths and Physics and up, but I could do an advanced style of GCSE in the same subjects. I tutored people during my A-Levels and Physics degree with no official qualifications.
