About Stephanie
I am a passionate mechanical engineering tutor with a unique blend of academic and athletic. Currently pursuing my Master's at UC Berkeley in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration on Assistive Robotics, I bring both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience to my teaching. My background as a D1 swimmer at Cal has instilled in me the discipline, perseverance, and goal-oriented mindset that I apply to my tutoring approach. With a strong academic record (3.6 GPA), I've mastered a comprehensive range of technical skills including programming (Python, MATLAB, Arduino, C/C++), robotics and mechatronics (PID Control, motor systems, inverse kinematics), CAD and fabrication (SolidWorks, LabVIEW, machine shop skills). My coursework has given me the foundation for a portfolio of projects that include: -Dish and Dash: the automatic waste sorting robot that identifies dishes and compost and stores them accordingly -Laser Cat Toy: Laser cat toy with IOT embedded connection that moves a laser to random positions for cat play -Automatic Cheese Grater: Capstone project combining mechatronics, electrical engineering, and Arduino software to automatically shred cheese at the press of a button. My teaching philosophy is guided by some of the best swim coaches in the world, who have been on World Championship and Olympic teams. I believe in personalized instruction that adapts to each student's learning style and pace. I mentor students not just in course material but in developing essential skills like time management, systematic problem-solving, and resilience. Whether working with middle school students or undergraduates, I create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that foster genuine understanding and confidence.

My teaching method centers on problem solving and visualization. I use a combination of visual models and analogies to break down complex subjects, and guided problem solving with an emphasis on how to solve the problem and others like it. I want my students to understand the point of what they are learning and how it will apply to industry and beyond. My typical lesson plan includes: -Concept Overview -Example Problem -Guided Practice -Real Life Applications -Reflections What sets me apart: -Elite Athletic Background: As a D1 swimmer at Cal, NCAA qualifier, and PAC-12 champion, I bring the same systematic learning to my academic teaching. -Mentorship Beyond Coursework: I guide students not just in academics but in developing essential professional skills like time management, project planning, and teamwork—drawing from my academic and athletic background Who My Lessons Are For: -Middle School Students: Introduction to engineering concepts, physics fundamentals, and beginning robotics -High School Students: AP Physics, engineering electives, robotics team support, and competition preparation -Undergraduate Students: Core mechanical engineering courses including: Statics and Dynamics Thermodynamics Fluid Mechanics Machine Design Control Systems Robotics CAD and simulation software Mechatronics

I've been going to Stephanie for several semesters for college prep and now for undergraduate math courses. We worked on preparing for the SAT and filling out college applications. I learned about financial aid and choosing the right school for me based on my major. Very personable and great with time management and helped me structure study schedules.
Stephanie has been an incredible tutor to my kids, and I am so glad we have the opportunity to work with her! Stephanie is a knowledgeable and impressive tutor who has helped my kids study heat transfer and problem-solving in engineering courses. She has allowed them to develop confidence in their ability and has guided them in learning so many important skills!
