About Anya

I am a Math tutor with over 4 years of experience and hold an MMath degree. Beyond solving equations and mastering techniques, I am deeply passionate about the history of mathematics and the evolution of mathematical thought. I believe that every theorem and concept has a story worth telling. That’s why I often bring historical context into my lessons, making mathematics feel alive and connected to human progress. I enjoy exploring the contributions of ancient civilizations, from the geometry of the Egyptians to the number systems of the Babylonians. These early ideas laid the foundation for the mathematics we study today. I also highlight the origins of famous theorems, showing how discoveries by mathematicians like Pythagoras, Euclid, and Euler shaped the subject. By sharing these stories, I help students see that mathematics is not static but a living discipline shaped over centuries. My teaching blends clear explanations of concepts with insights into their cultural and intellectual journeys. This approach allows learners to connect techniques with meaning and context. I encourage students to view mathematics not just as a tool for calculation but as a reflection of human creativity and problem-solving. This perspective builds curiosity and appreciation. Over time, learners develop both technical skill and a sense of wonder about the subject. They begin to see patterns not only in numbers but also in the history of ideas. Let’s delve together into the rich history that shaped our understanding of numbers and patterns, and uncover the stories behind the mathematics we practice today.

My teaching approach in Mathematics is gentle, reflective, and centered on building strong conceptual understanding. I believe higher mathematics is not just about solving problems but about learning new ways to think.

I work with students of all levels, guiding them through both core and advanced topics. My lessons include Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, Abstract Algebra, Number Theory, Mathematical Proofs, and other advanced theoretical concepts.

I focus on clarity and patience, breaking down complex theorems into understandable parts. Each session is designed to give students time to reflect, question, and truly grasp the ideas behind the formulas.

Proofs and abstract reasoning are important in my lessons. I help students see the structure of mathematical arguments and develop confidence in presenting their own.

I am especially good at supporting learners who explore independently (DIY Learners) and those who dive deeply into ideas (Researchers). I encourage them to find their unique approach to tackling higher-level problems.

My sessions mix guided practice with opportunities for independent exploration. I provide feedback that builds both confidence and precision.

Mathematics, for me, is a journey of discovery rather than memorization. With the right mindset, even the most abstract concepts become meaningful.

Together, we will discover a new way to think mathematically—one that is reflective, creative, and deeply rewarding.
