My teaching methods focus on empathy and identifying a students strengths and weaknesses by placing myself in their position and working from the knowledge base of the student, filling in gaps in understanding by using the Socratic method as a guide.
I am a mathematician and data scientist who specializes in data analysis and parallel programming. I have many years experience as a private math tutor at all levels and have a love for reaching students to appreciate math. I have taught math to special needs students online, as well as advanced calculus and programming to advanced highschool and college students. I pride myself on being available outside of regular appointment times as well.
Perfect! Sean was very knowledgeable and curious--highly recommended!
Matt is a brilliant academic whose knowledge spans many complicated disciplines. Working with him is a pleasure!
He is extremely patient! As a person who knows math, he shouldn't be this good at communication. As a person who knows communication, he shouldn't be this good at math. But somehow he is managed to have both features. Very knowledgeable teacher! Much appreciated!
Sean has a passion for both Math and sharing his knowledge. With two Master degrees he knows his subject.
Best ever tutor..kind, patient, and smart!
To Whom it May Concern,
This letter of recommendation for Sean Debusschere is written without any hesitation or reservations. I have had the pleasure of knowing Sean for over seven years. For five of those years, Sean was a math tutor for my son, who is legally blind and now a Junior at Kalamazoo College. Sean tutored my son through Algebra I & II, Geometry, Financial Math, and College Level Statistics. Four of those courses were independent study ALEKS online courses. Since there was no traditional teacher for these online courses, Sean taught every concept in his role as “tutor.”
Sean has an honest and pure desire for working with young people and he has an incredible talent for understanding mathematical concepts and making them come alive for his students. He speaks “math,” and connects mathematical thinking to real world experiences. His kindness, patience, enthusiasm and genuine love of math is contagious. It is obvious to me, that he has a genuine talent for teaching young people of all levels and abilities.
I feel that Sean Debusschere exemplifies what it means to be a teacher and there is no one I would recommend more as a tutor.
Sincerely,
Amy G. Shepherd
