About Vanessa
Hi! I’m Vanessa, a Boston University alum and medicinal chemist based out of NYC. I have been a professional tutor for STEM related courses for 10 years. During my own education, tutors and mentors played a pivotal role in my growth as a scientist. These tutors listened well to my questions and encouraged me to approach new problems intuitively, using knowledge I had already mastered. My students and I have had ample success by taking the same approach.

I emphasize the importance of becoming truly comfortable with the basics— a strong foundation helps develop intuition, which can guide students through complex problems. I believe practice problems are the best way to gain familiarity and confidence. I’ve had success by helping students work through homework assignments, reviewing difficult concepts in their curriculum, and providing my own practice problem sets according to their needs. My approach has been effective in STEM related courses from elementary school to collegiate levels, including arithmetic, algebra, calculus, introductory chemistry and organic chemistry.
