I have very broad interests in science, literature, and philosophy and how all spheres of knowledge fit together to make us human beings.
Recently, I've been teaching at Flanders Nature Center in Woodbury, CT while I complete a program to become certified as a high school biology teacher.
I've been teaching, mentoring, and supervising scientists for 15 years. Over the last two years I've worked with students in preschool through high school.
My rates would be lower for younger students and families with greater financial needs.
I have a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Alaska where I worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. My Ph.D. is from Yale University where I studied neurophysiology and neuropharmacology of drug abuse. I worked at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and UCLA studying the neurogenetics of learning and memory. I was a behavioral neuroscientist at two pharmaceutical companies helping to develop new drugs to treat psychiatric illnesses and cognitive deficits. Recently, I've been teaching environmental science at an outdoor nature center and working toward becoming certified as a high school biology teacher.
