About Seth

Tutoring gives me the chance to help students master material in a supportive and practical way. I enjoy seeing concepts “click” and watching students grow in confidence. I hold a Master of Science in Translation & Interpreting from New York University, where I graduated with a 3.33 GPA. In addition to my graduate degree, I earned an ACTFL rating of Advanced Low in Spanish, which reflects the ability to understand and work with complex narrative and descriptive texts. Together, these credentials give me both the academic foundation and language proficiency to support students in Spanish, Portuguese, and English writing. My background also includes teaching Business and Legal English in Mexico City and providing one-on-one tutoring to professionals. As a professional translator, I work daily with language, writing, and analytical thinking, which directly supports my tutoring in legal writing, Spanish, Portuguese, and math. I also focus on proofreading and plain-language editing, which sharpens my ability to help students improve clarity and precision in their own writing. Whether you’re aiming to succeed in class, build confidence in a new subject, or strengthen your writing, I tailor lessons to your needs and goals. As Cora Coralina said, “Happy is the one who transfers what he knows and learns what he teaches.” For me, tutoring is as much about learning alongside students as it is about teaching. About the lesson

My tutoring is practical and personalized. For English, I work with both ESL learners and professionals — using articles, real-life texts, and roleplays (like meetings, client calls, or everyday conversations) to build confidence. For Spanish, I focus on beginners and high school students, teaching grammar, vocabulary, and conversation step by step. I also tutor Math up to Algebra, emphasizing clear explanations and problem-solving strategies. With my Master’s in Translation from NYU, I combine real-world expertise with an approachable, supportive style.
