About Katie

I got my qualifications (Certificate 3 and Certificate 4 in School Based Education Support) in 2022. In this year started working with children through working in Outside School Hours Care (OSHC).

In 2022 I also started tutoring in drawing (art) in 2023 onwards I've been teaching english and maths. In 2025, Ive moved into working in classrooms as a relief Teaching Assistant. Ive gained a-lot of knowledge about the Australian curriculum, which guides my lesson plans.

Overall when I work with students I always try to make lessons fun. This helps learning become intrinsic and less of a chore. My approach has been very successful which is how i’ve been blessed with several positive reviews.

This year Im hoping to gain enough experience in classrooms to gain an ongoing role as an EA.

About the lesson

I will provide one-on-one support for the student to gain confidence in reading(phonetics and blending) writing, punctuation, grammar, spelling, text features and structures, different writing styles and persuasive writing.

I believe that confidence is the key to learning success.

When I first meet the child, I will attempt to get to know them and develop a positive relationship, whilst gently entering the lesson in a manner that is comfortable. Once I get to know the child, I can tailor lessons to help support building confidence in required areas.

My 9yo son was apprehensive about getting a tutor and was really not interested, but Katie was engaging and grabbed his attention as soon as she arrived. His attitude towards literacy has changed and as soon as she left he asked when she was coming back - he couldn't wait another week.
