About Susan
I'm a teacher who chose to make teaching my career. Although I recently retired from the profession, I still have the desire to work with students to help them meet their goals. I have a fondness for teenagers who are frustrated over not being able to demonstrate their true intelligence.
I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BA in Education and English, and returned a decade later to obtain an MA degree in Education.

Most of my teaching career has been spent with high school or middle school students with learning disabilities. By the time these teens reach high school, the subject they least wish to study is English. But I have learned from my students that the greatest motivator for future learning is success. I teach students ways to compensate for deficiencies that are a natural result of dyslexia and/or other learning disabilities. These skills are equally effective with reluctant readers who are willing to take a chance on meeting with success..
