About Jean-Luc
I hold a BSc and MSc in Mathematics from ETH Zurich, where I graduated top of my class and received the ETH Medal. I’m now pursuing a DPhil in Mathematical Physics at Oxford, focusing on Feynman integrals, algebraic geometry, and combinatorics. My academic path has been shaped by a fascination with the elegance and structure of pure mathematics—how simple, foundational ideas can build into surprisingly rich theories.

Over the past several years, I’ve taught over 100 university students in seven different 14-week courses, including Mathematics I/II and Physics I/II for biomedical and chemistry students, and C/C++ programming for maths and physics students. I deliberately chose courses with students who often don’t feel naturally inclined towards maths because I enjoy making the subject accessible and relevant. I connect abstract concepts to real-world examples. I always begin by identifying the topics students struggle with most, and work through problem sheets with detailed, intuitive explanations that build both confidence and understanding. My philosophy is rooted in flexibility, patience, and clarity. I believe in building a strong intuitive and geometric foundation for each topic before diving into technical detail. I often use diagrams, relatable analogies, and guiding questions to help students see the “why” behind the maths. I adapt sessions to their pace and priorities, and I treat students as collaborators in their own learning process.
