About Glenda
Named Outstanding Educator of the Year 2021 by the Missouri Association for Adult Continuing and Community Education (MAACE). Peer-headed and coordinated trade and certificate programs under the WIOA Grant Initiative. I also created curriculum and planned course content and methods of instruction. I also designed industry-specific training in OSHA Forklift operation, Certified Nurse Assistant, and Hospitality. Provided instructions in English reading comprehension, writing, speaking, and listening to adults who spoke English as a second language.

Teaching Philosophy "Whoever dares to teach must never cease to learn." -John Cotton Dana- First and foremost, I am deeply passionate about education. While the debate between teacher-centered and learner-centered teaching styles continues, I tailor my instruction to accommodate the diverse academic needs and learning styles of my students as an English instructor. My lessons are thoughtfully crafted to foster opportunities for academic growth, development, and engagement. With my experience as an English instructor, I customize my teaching approach to align with students' individual needs, learning preferences, and cultural backgrounds by delivering relevant, real-world content. A typical lesson plan for students would follow the following format, with a disclaimer that states it is subject to change based on the student's academic needs. Lesson Plan English Language Arts for 11th & 12th Grade Level Students. State Standards Mo.7. W.2.A & RL.1.D. Reading Literary Reading & Writing The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Chapter One The students will complete Do Now: Review and correct two-sentence or paragraph mechanics, word usage, and grammar. The time will be 15 minutes. The instructor will introduce the text: The instructor will discuss the text's background and setting. The instructor will review text context vocabulary. LEARNING OBJECTIVE: After an initial reading and discussion of the chapter, students will be able to identify, describe, and make inferences about the book's narrator and setting. Summarize/Theme Using appropriate text, determine two or more themes, analyze their development throughout the text, and relate the themes to human nature and the world; provide an objective and concise summary of the text. Expectation Unwrapped After reading Huckleberry Finn, the students will independently read and write a summary of the characteristics of one of two characters. Adventures from Chapter 1. The student will analyze and discuss the text genre throughout a text. The student will relate the themes in a text to human nature and the real world. The student will provide an objective and concise summary of the text. My Educational Level is Post Graduate Level in Teaching/PhD. (ABD).
