About Amanda
I am an energetic educator with many years of experience. I have taught students from a huge variety of backgrounds and cultures. I love getting to know students as individuals and will take the time to make sure I know how you learn best! I love learning myself and think that all learning can be fun. There is always a way to make learning an engaging experience. I am here to help with that! I come to each session prepared to cover important material. I am on time and am ready to get to work right away. I am looking forward to getting to know each one of you and help you succeed!

Hi! My name is Mandy Seaton and I am an energetic, fun, caring educator who loves to teach all about Reading, Writing, and Math. I can work with students from Preschool through 6th grade.
I will take the time to get to know each one of my individual students to determine their interests, strengths, learning challenges, and learning styles. Each student's success is my highest priority, and I will make sure to come to each tutoring session highly prepared and ready to create engaging learning opportunities. With a Master of Education, experience as a classroom teacher, and as a small group/individual student tutor, I am able to quickly recognize best strategies and methodologies for each student's learning needs.
During a typical tutoring session, I will begin with a fun get to know you activity where the student and I can ease into working on specific concepts or topics. Once we have broken the ice, we will move into reviewing any concepts we practiced the previous session. After a few minutes, we can move onto learning a new concept or idea. I think it is extremely important to bring interesting ways of learning new things to my tutoring sessions. I believe that hands on activities are the best! If we are learning a math concept, we will use manipulatives (blocks, real coins, beans, etc.) to learn how to add, subtract, understand place value and more.
For writing I would again bring something hands on and fun to work with when learning to write more detailed sentences. I might bring something like popcorn so we could practice writing descriptive sentences on how the popcorn sounds, smells, looks, feels, and tastes.
With reading, we might draw pictures to demonstrate comprehension and story progression. We could also act out parts of the story when answering questions about what happened first, in the middle, and end.
Learning is FUN! I want to make sure I am bringing that excitement and enthusiasm to each and every tutoring session!
